day#8 something-something in paradise...

i've eaten some really crazy things on a burger in my day, but it has never crossed my mind even once to eat pineapple on one. i've heard of it on a pizza, but never a burger. this was suggested by jaymoh and the sammich creation shall henceforth be called the "juggamoh".
what's on this beast? well, we have a wheat hamburger bun slathered with veganaise mixed with a little miso. then i placed a lentil cutlet* on top of that with some sauteed mushrooms, grilled pineapple, and caramelized onions. this was a VERY magical sandwich. the photos do not do this superburger any justice. it was too dark outside to take my regular dinner shot for this one, so i had to use my ol' food photography nemesis the flash setting.
to make a lentil cutlet, simply make the chickpea cutlets from veganomicon and sub cooked lentils instead of chickpeas and omit the lemon zest. i think vegan cowgirl mentioned on her blog at one time that the cutlet recipe could easily be changed with the use of a different bean. it makes an awesome crispy patty. much better than a silly boca burger.

Pineapple on burgers is really good. Even better with bbq sauce! I'm sure the juggamoh will be honored.

Does the type of lentil matter?

This looks amazing, and thanks for the second-hand tip on the cutlets!

This sounds like a wonderful idea. I love pineapple on so many other things.

In Australia a typical burger has pineapple, a fried egg AND a slice of beetroot on it! so you just be channeling your inner ozzie on this one :p Looks delish!

That sounds like one epic burger!
