i crunked it up this weekend and tested bianca's biscuits and soysage gravy for her southern vegan cookbook. both were pretty divine. you'd think that it would be easy to make gravy, hence the catchphrase "it's gravy" but if you don't know what you're doing, gravy can turn out disastrous. this did not.
i can't release the ingredients BUT i can tell you i use WW flour because white flour is the devil bobby bouchay. couldn't resist a reference from the waterboy.
AMEN! i actually have a fear of white flour, no joke. there should seriously be a phobia named after it lol. your biscuits came out better shaped than mine! maybe because you made yours bigger and i did the small ones? mine kinda poofed up :(
ReplyDeleteMan, I can't wait until I get my hands on those recipes - they both look absolutely scrumptious! And just to play the devil's advocate, I tried Googling "in defense of white flour" and other similar terms, but found nothing :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for that recipe. My biscuits always turn out like hockey pucks.
ReplyDeletei'm planning on making that recipe this weekend... and will adhere to the ww flour.
ReplyDeleteWoah, those look gloriously light! You crack me up, as always :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I love biscuits and gravy. REALLY love. After several years of making gravy I can handle it no problem, but you are very correct: it can go horribly wrong. The slightest miscalculation and you can end up with a tasteless, lumpy mess. Luckily, this gravy looks just perfect!
ReplyDeleteGlad they worked well with regular whole wheat flour too! They look pretty fluffy!
ReplyDeleteAnd on the dumplins, I believe the recipe needs about 2 extra cups water, according to a bit of feedback I've gotten. I think the dumplins would have more room to cook fully with more liquid...
sausage and gravy and biscuits! match made in heaven!
ReplyDeleteThey look so fluffy and awesome.
ReplyDeleteI know white flour is bad, but I love it so!!
Mama said alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush!!
I LOOOOVE soysage gravy. More than the real thing, which is kind of crazy for me...
